Answering Critics: The Virgin Birth and Incarnation | Let's Talk Biblical | Episode 9
Evidence
Today, we’re diving into a foundational doctrine of the faith — the virgin birth of Yeshua. Why does it matter? Does it hold the key to understanding Yeshua’s identity, mission, and the fulfillment of prophecy? We will also examine and refute the claims that skeptics such as Richard Dawkins, Tovia Singer, and Bart Ehrman make on this subject.

if you love talking about the Bible as
much as I do then I think you really
enjoy this show Welcome to list talk
biblical the podcast where we dig deep
into the heart of scripture explore
Timeless truths and have real
conversations about what the Bible says
and how it applies to us my name is Lex
and I want to thank you for joining me
on today's episode so grab your bible
get comfortable and let's talk
biblical there is no prophecy about the
Messiah being born of a virgin do you
believe Jesus was born of a virgin the
Virgin birth results from a
mistranslation of Isaiah you know that
there's a problem there uh because the
Greek translation of Isaiah 7 is not an
accurate translation of what the Hebrew
says what do Richard Dawkins tovia
singer and Bart Man have in common
Richard Dawkins is an evolutionary
biologist and a well-known atheist who
rejects all religion tovia singer is a
Jewish rabbi and he's well known for his
anti-missionary efforts and Bart ER is a
Greek scholar and Bible critic who is
known for rejecting Christianity what do
these three men have in common they all
have an agenda to turn people away from
the Christian faith today I want to look
at some of the claims that these men
make in their efforts to undermine
Christianity and I want to respond
respond to their questions and point out
their false statements let's begin with
Richard Dawkins and what I care about is
the truth value I see no no truth value
in the claims of Christianity the Virgin
birth the Resurrection The Miracles do
you believe in any of those do you
believe Jesus was born a virgin the
Virgin birth results from a
mistranslation of Isaiah you know that
yes Richard I absolutely believe in the
Virgin birth the resurrection and the
Miracles in the Bible as we consider the
claims of Someone Like Richard Dawkins
notice that he's pompous and demeaning
towards Christianity he believes the
Bible is a work of fiction and those who
believe in the Bible are ignorant
uneducated simpletons so he begins his
question stating that he believes there
is no truth value in the claims of the
Bible such as the Virgin birth the
resurrection and the Miracles this is
because he doesn't see any value in
believing in God he does this to try to
make people feel dumb for believing the
Bible he's using what I consider to be
an fair fighting tactics in his debate
there are two particular fallacies that
he likes to use when debating with
Christians the first is the straw man
fallacy in which he misrepresents the
opposing argument to make it seem easier
to attack the second is an appeal to
Authority fallacy in which he presents
atheist scientists as Authority and in
most cases he presents himself as the
authority implying that if you disagree
with his opinions then you're wrong he
also likes to State his opinions on
things
as if they're facts and he presents his
opinions as the standard of Truth
ultimately this guy is arrogant and
obnoxious and he thinks too highly of
himself however I want to look at the
claims he's making about the Bible and
in particular about the Virgin birth of
Yeshua in this clip Dawan says two
things about the Virgin birth first he
claims that there is no truth value in
the Virgin birth second he claimed that
the belief in the Virgin birth is based
on a mistranslation of the book of
Isaiah as we will see with all three of
these men the translation of Isaiah 7:14
is the Crux of their argument so let's
begin by reading that verse Isaiah 7:14
says therefore the Lord himself will
give you a sign behold the Virgin shall
conceive and bear a son and shall call
his name Emmanuel Dawan says this is a
mistranslation of the verse that led to
the Virgin birth Doctrine however that's
not true in fact it was the other way
around the gospel of Matthew quotes from
this verse in Isaiah but the reason is
not to form a doctrine of the Virgin
birth the reason is to show that the
virgin of birth was mentioned in
Prophecy beforehand we need to look at
the context of Matthew chapter 1 to see
how this verse in Isaiah came to be
connected with Yeshua Matthew 1:1 18-24
says now the birth of Jesus Christ was
as follows after his mother Mary was
betrothed to Joseph before they came
together she was found with child of the
Holy Spirit
then Joseph her husband being a just man
and not wanting to make her a public
example was minded to put her way
secretly but while he thought about
these things behold an angel of the Lord
appeared to him in a dream saying Joseph
son of David do not be afraid to take to
you Mary your wife for that which is
conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit
and she will bring forth a son and you
shall call his name Yeshua or Jesus for
he shall save his people from their sins
so all this was done that it might be
fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord
through the prophet saying behold the
Virgin shall be with child and bear a
son and they shall call his name Emanuel
which is translated god with us then
Joseph being aroused from his sleep did
as the angel of the Lord commanded him
and took to him his wife so we see here
that while Joseph was betrothed to Mary
she became pregnant by the Holy Spirit
Joseph and Mary had not slept together
so when he found out she was pregnant he
knew the child wasn't his so he decided
to end the betral secretly because he
didn't want to bring shame on her but an
angel appeared to Joseph in a dream and
told him that the child was conceived by
the holy spirit this is why the writer
of Matthew pointed to Isaiah 714 as
being prophetically connected to this
event the fact that Mary conceived a son
while she was a virgin was the true
event that caused Matthew to look for
prophecy to support and confirm it Dawan
says there's no truth in the Virgin
birth but the fact that Joseph wanted to
put her away shows that he had not slept
with her so he knew the child wasn't his
and the fact that she was pregnant while
still being a virgin proves that what
the angel said about the child being
conceived by the Holy Spirit was true
the argument that Isaiah 7 is being
mistranslated here is absolutely false
the Jewish scribes who translated the
Greek Septuagint 200 years before Yeshua
was born translated the Hebrew word Amma
with the Greek word paranos the same
word used here in Matthew in fact
Matthew directly quoted from the
subagent so to say it was a
mistranslation makes no sense because it
was not even translated by Matthew he
simply quoted it now let's listen to
what Rabbi toia singer has to say about
this topic a lot of stake because if
Matthew in chapter 1 vers 23 lied about
this then the whole new testament loses
its credibility and Christianity is is
the biggest fraud that that was
perpetrated the text in Isaiah
7:14 says he Alo horor behold the young
woman is pregnant the ban and she's
going to give birth to his son so here's
a very interesting thing we can do see
what Christians are arguing is that's
the word Alma that means a virgin but
like a married virgin this is such a
scam you have no idea this is like the
scam of not of the century of the last
Thousand Years 2,000 years tovia singer
is the king of straw man arguments he he
loves to misrepresent the opposing
argument and twist it into absurdity so
he can sound like he has easily defeated
their stance however the truth is he
doesn't ever deal with the true claims
that Christians are really making the
clip you just heard is a perfect example
of this type of fallacy tovia says that
Christians argue that the word Alma
means a married virgin I have never
heard Christians claim the word Alma
means a married virgin that's making a
straw man argument he's making an UNT
statement and then kicking it over to
make it seem like he has the higher
ground he's actually ignoring the real
claims and facts that Christian Jews
when dealing with the word Alma in this
context the Hebrew word Alma means a
young maiden or a young girl who is of
marriageable age it can mean a virgin
but not always the Hebrew word Betha
means virgin and is often Associated
alongside of Alma to show that both can
be true for example in Genesis 24
we said that Rebecca is described as
both Betha and Alman indicating that she
was a young girl of marriageable age and
that she was also a virgin Genesis 24:16
says now the young woman was very
beautiful to Behold a virgin Betha no
man had known her and she went down to
the well and filled her picture and came
up in this verse Rebecca is called a
Betha but if we skip down to verse 43 we
see it calls her an alma Genesis 24:43
says behold I stand by The Well of water
and it shall come to pass that when the
Virgin Al ma comes out to draw water and
I say to her please give me a little
water from your pitchure to drink we see
from these two verses that Rebecca was
both an alma meaning young woman and a
beula meaning a virgin these terms are
not identical but they do have a
significant overlap a young Maiden who
was not married was typically a virgin
especially in the context of ancient
Israel where virginity was prized and a
virgin actually refers to a young woman
who was not yet married however every
Christian scholar and theologian I'm
aware of will admit that they are not
identical terms and do have slight
difference in meaning in fact let me
read you an excerpt from the Holan Bible
dictionary on this topic to show you an
example of what Christians actually say
on this subject the word used in Isaiah
7:14 is is one of two words in the Old
Testament that refer to a young woman
the more generic Betha approximately 60
times was used to refer to virgins
Genesis 24:16 Deuteronomy 2216 through1
17 maidens who have not been virgins
Esther
27-19 and symbolically of Israel
Jeremiah 14:17 the less common Alma
approximately nine times which is used
in Isaiah 7:14 likewise referred to
virgins Genesis
2443 but some translators argue that it
was also used to refer to maidens who
were not necessarily virgins Proverbs
319 the semantic versatility of Elma
does not however conclusively eliminate
the possibility that vaginal conception
was being conveyed in Isaiah 714 though
of course the reference to Isaiah's wife
would preclude that she was a virgin
Alma certainly could be translated
virgin and in Matthew Zeus of the text
virgin would be the appropriate
translation here we see Christian
commentary giving an honest evaluation
of the meaning of both words even
showing examples of how these words are
used in ways that might seem
disfavorable towards either of these
words strictly meaning virgin however it
shows us that the context of the verse
helps us understand how the word is
being used this also shows us that tovia
claimed that Christians say Alma means a
married virgin is absolutely untrue he
invented this absolutely absurd claim
then easily kicks it over making himself
sound like the authority but he hasn't
addressed the real issues being
discussed by actual Christian
theologians so let me clarify that Alma
refers to a young woman of marriageable
age often implying virginity although
not explicitly stating it Alma typically
refers to a young unmarried woman who is
presumed to be a virgin even though the
term itself does not exclusively mean
virgin these things are also discussed
in this next clip by Bart Man Isaiah in
the Greek translation says pretty much
what I just quoted a virgin shall a
virgin shall conceive and bear a son
you'll call his name Emanuel but there's
a there's a problem there uh because the
Greek translation of Isaiah 7 is not an
accurate translation of what the Hebrew
says um in the Hebrew um Hebrew does
have a word for Virgin uh it's the word
butha and it it means a woman who's
never had sex um but there's a there's
another Hebrew word Alma so in English I
guess it'd be a l m a h Alma Alma um
means a young woman and uh many young
women have never had sex uh but being an
alma doesn't mean you've never had sex
it just means you're a young woman so um
so he does not use the word for Virgin
Isaiah doesn't he used the word for
young woman and moreover he indicates
that the woman the young woman is
already pregnant here Bart armman
correctly points out that Alma means
young woman and that it does not
necessarily mean that she's a virgin
however he claims that it was
incorrectly translated into Greek as
virgin using the Greek word paranos this
is a sneaky deception on his part
because he's not acknowledging the fact
that Jewish scribes 200 years before
Yeshua was born translated this verse
into Greek in the subagent and these
Jewish scribes who knew nothing about
Yeshua thought that virgin was the
correct translation of the word Al ma
consider the context of Isaiah 7:14 is
it a miraculous sign that a young woman
would get pregnant doesn't it make more
sense for the miraculous sign to be that
a virgin would get pregnant however even
if we translate Isaiah 7:14 as young
woman and ignore the possibility that
Alma could mean virgin and if we ignore
the fact that the Jewish scribes
translated as virgin in the Greek that
doesn't affect anything concerning
Yeshua being born of a virgin let me put
it another way let's quote Isaiah 714
saying a young woman and see if it
changes anything Isaiah 7:14 says
therefore the Lord himself will give you
a sign behold the young woman shall
conceive and bear son and shall call his
name Emanuel was Mary a young woman yes
did she conceive and bear a son yes does
this verse in any way invalidate the
claim of the gospels that she was also a
virgin no by saying she is a young woman
does not invalidate the claim that she
was also a virgin so when Matthew and
Luke claimed that she was a virgin that
does not contradict Isaiah 7:14 in any
way so once again we see this is a straw
man argument all three of these men are
focusing on the Hebrew word Alma and
making it sound like this word somehow
disproves that Yeshua was born of a
virgin they are ignoring the more
important testimony of the gospels and
trying to make the entire argument about
Isaiah 7 the only reason they do this is
because Matthew quotes Isaiah 7:14 in
reference to Yeshua however Luke doesn't
even mention Isaiah 7 in his birth
narrative listen to what the Gospel of
Luke says and notice that it says
nothing about Isaiah Luke 1: 26 and 27
now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel
was sent by God to a city of Galilee
named Nazareth to a virgin betro to a
man whose name was Joseph of the House
of David the virgin's name was Mary Luke
1:30 and 31 says then the angel said to
her do not be afraid Mary for you have
found favor with God and behold you will
conceive in your womb and bring forth a
son and shall call his name Yeshua or
Jesus Luke
13435 says then Mary said to the angel
how can this be since I do not know a
man and the angel answered her and said
the holy spirit will come upon you and
the power of the highest will overshadow
you therefore also that Holy one who is
to be born will be called The Son of God
and Luke 137 says for with God nothing
will be impossible the facts laid out in
this gospel are that Mary's a virgin who
is betrothed to be married to Joseph and
an angel tells her that she will
conceive a son by the power of the Holy
Spirit next We compare that with what
Matthew says and we find out how Joseph
comes into the story Matthew 1:1 18-21
says now the birth of Jesus Christ was
as follows after his mother Mary was
betrothed to Joseph before they came
together she was found with child of the
Holy Spirit then Joseph her husband
being a just man and not wanting to make
her a public example was minded to put
her away secretly but while he thought
about these things behold an angel of
the Lord appeared to him in a dream
saying Joseph son of David do not be
afraid to take to you Mary your wife for
that which is conceived in her is of the
Holy Spirit and she will bring forth a
son and you shall call his name Yeshua
or Jesus for he will save his people
from their sins if we stop here and
ignore verse 22 which quotes Isaiah 7:14
we still see that Mary was a virgin and
she conceived a son by the power of the
Holy Spirit the quote from Isaiah is not
necessary to prove that Mary was a
virgin when she became pregnant with
Yeshua so we see that the argument put
forth by Dawkins singer and man about
Isaiah 7:14 being a bad translation of
the word Alma doesn't change the fact
that Yeshua was born of a virgin so
their arguments are actually meaningless
I think the more important part of
Matthew quoting Isaiah 7:14 is not about
if she's a virgin or a young woman but
the fact that the child will be called
Emmanuel meaning God With Us I believe
this is also connected with Isaiah 9:6
in which it says he will be called
Mighty God and everlasting father Isaiah
9:6 says For unto us a child is born
unto us a son is given and the
government will be upon his shoulder and
his his name will be called wonderful
counselor Mighty God Everlasting father
Prince of Peace these prophecies show us
the divine nature of the Messiah and I
believe that's the significance of
quoting from Isaiah in reference to
Yeshua I don't think we need Isaiah 7 to
prove that Mary was a virgin I believe
the gospels do a good job of making that
very clear so even if we go with Alma
meaning young woman it doesn't affect
the application of this prophecy to
Yeshua being born of a virgin now that
we've seen how the skeptic's arguments
are meaningless I want to discuss why
the Virgin birth actually matters first
the Virgin birth points to the divine
nature of Yeshua when the Bible calls
him the Son of God it isn't being
metaphorical or symbolic we already
looked at how Matthew and Luke show
Yeshua to be conceived by the Holy
Spirit In the Womb of the Virgin Mary
now consider what Mark and John say
about him Mark begins his gospel by
telling us that Yeshua is the Son of God
Mark 1:1 says the beginning of the
Gospel of Jesus Christ the son of God a
few verses later after his baptism the
voice of God comes from heaven and
confirms that Yeshua is the Son of God
Mark 1:11 says then a voice Came From
Heaven you are my beloved Son in whom I
am well pleased Mark is very direct in
telling us that Yeshua is the Son of God
but John brings even more clarity to
what this means when he tells us that
Yeshua is the word of God incarnate John
1 1 4 says in the beginning was the word
and the Word was with God and the Word
was God he was in the beginning with God
all things were made through him and
without him nothing was made that was
made in him was life and the life was
the light of men John 1:14 says and the
word became flesh and dwelt among us and
we beheld his glory the glory as of the
only begotten of the father full of
grace and truth
the phrase in the beginning points us
back to Genesis 1 when God created the
heavens and the Earth and John explains
that it was the word of God that created
all things and the Word was with God and
the Word was God then John tells us that
the word became flesh and dwelt Among Us
calling Yeshua the only begotten of the
Father the term sons of God is used of
other people in the Bible but John makes
it clear that Yeshua is distinct as the
only only begotten Son of God Yeshua is
the only son born from God which is a
reference to the Virgin birth described
in Matthew and Luke Yeshua was begotten
by God because the Holy Spirit conceived
the child in the womb of the Virgin Mary
however John makes it clear that Yeshua
existed before the Incarnation he was
with God at the beginning and Yeshua is
the one who created the heavens and the
Earth as the word of God we see here
that Yeshua was eternally the Son of God
existing with the father in the
beginning but Yeshua also became a man
in the Incarnation when he was born of
the Virgin Mary he's always been fully
God but the Incarnation makes him also
fully man Paul also makes this clear in
Colossians when he describes Yeshua as
the image of God who created all things
Colossians 1:1 15-17 says he is the
image of the invisible God the firstborn
over all creation for by by him all
things were created that are in heaven
and that are on earth visible and
invisible whether Thrones or dominions
or principalities or Powers all things
were created through him and for him and
he is before all things and in him all
things consist this speaks of the
pre-existence of Yeshua he has existed
eternally with the father and Yeshua is
the creator of all things next in
Chapter 2 Paul gives us a warning not to
be led astray by the seed of philos
opers and traditions of men explaining
that in Christ dwells the fullness of
the godhead bodily Colossians 28:9 says
beware lest anyone cheat you through
philosophy and empty deceit according to
the tradition of men according to the
basic principles of the world and not
according to Christ for in him dwells
all the fullness of the godhead bodily
this is why we can say that Yeshua is
fully God and fully man he was a man
because he was born In the Flesh born of
a woman having a human body a human mind
and a human weakness but he was fully
God because in him dwells the fullness
of the godhead bodily therefore Yeshua
is fully God and fully man the word
incarnate means to make into flesh the
idea is that God became flesh and dwelt
as a human this is the consistent
message we see in the gospels and the
Epistles the book of Hebrews also points
to Yeshua as the Son of God and the
creator of the world
Hebrews 1 1-3 says God who at various
times and in various ways spoke in time
past to the fathers by the prophets has
in these last days spoken to us by his
son whom he has appointed heir of all
things through whom he also made the
worlds who being the brightness of his
glory and the express image of his
person and upholding All Things by the
word of his power when he had by himself
purged our sins sat down at the right
hand of the Majesty on high Yeshua also
referred to himself as being the Son of
God Matthew 24:36 says but of that day
and hour no one knows not even the
angels of heaven but my father only
Matthew 26:39 says he went a little
further and fell on his face and prayed
saying oh my father if it is possible
let this cup pass from me nevertheless
not as I will but as you will Matthew
26:53 or do you not think that I cannot
now pray to my father and he will
provide me with more than 12 Legions of
angels Luke
23:34 then Jesus said father forgive
them for they do not know what they do
and they divided his garments and cast
lots John 10:29 and3 says my father who
has given them to me is greater than all
and no one is able to snatch them out of
my father's hand I and my father are one
John 2017 says Jesus said to her do not
cling to me for I have not yet ascended
to my father but go to my brethren and
say to them I am ascending to my father
and your father to my God and your God
John 14: 7-9 says if you had known me
you would have known my father also and
from now on you know him and have seen
him Philip said to him Lord show us the
father and it is sufficient for us Jesus
said to him have I been with you so long
and yet you have not known me Phillip he
who has seen me has seen the father so
how can you say show us the father
likewise Yeshua indicated that he came
from Heaven John 8:23 says and he said
to them you are from beneath I am from
above you are of this world I am not of
this world John 31213 says if I have
told you of Earthly things and you do
not believe how will you believe if I
tell you of heavenly things no one has
ascended to heaven but he who came down
from heaven that is the son of man who
is in heaven Yeshua even claims to share
Glory with the father and that he has
shared that Glory since before the world
existed showing his Divine and eternal
nature John 175 says and now oh Father
glorify me together with yourself with
the glory which I had with you before
the world was Yeshua didn't have an
Earthly father because he was conceived
divinely in the womb of a Virgin by the
Holy Spirit Joseph raised him as a
surate Earthly father but Yeshua did not
come from the seed of Joseph he was
adopted by Joseph notice that Joseph was
the husband of Mary and Mary is called
the mother of Yeshua but in a number of
places Joseph is not called his father
Matthew 1:16 says and Jacob begat Joseph
the husband of Mary of whom was born
Jesus who is called Christ Matthew 1:18
says now the birth of Jesus Christ was
as follows after his mother Mary was
betrothed to Joseph before they came
together she was found with child of the
Holy Spirit Luke 2:33 says and Joseph
and his mother marveled at the things
which were spoken of Him Luke 2:43 says
when they had finished the days as they
returned the boy Jesus lingered behind
in Jerusalem and Joseph and his mother
did not know it Yeshua never called
Joseph his father he only referred to
God as his father however we do find
other people calling Joseph his father
or calling him the son of Joseph but
notice that they are not Believers for
example in John 1 we find Philip and
Nathaniel calling him the son of Joseph
but they just found out about him and
they were not yet his disciples John
1:45 says Philip found Nathaniel and
said to him we have found him of whom
Moses in the law and also the prophets
wrote Jesus of Nazareth the son of
Joseph
we also see Jews who opposed Yeshua
calling him the son of Joseph John 6:
41-42 says the Jews then complained
about him because he said I am the bread
which came down from heaven and they
said is not this Jesus the son of Joseph
whose father and mother we know how is
it then that he says I have come down
from heaven we also see that Mary called
Joseph his father Luke 2:48 says so when
they saw him they were amazed and his
mother said to him son why have you done
this to us look your father and I have
sought you anxiously we see this type of
thing with adopted parents and step
parents the real mother might refer to
the stepfather as your father when
speaking to the child and adopted
parents want to be called mother and
father by the children they adopt which
is likely what we see in this case
there's also an interesting dialogue
between Yeshua and some of the people
who opposed him in this conversation yes
yeshu refers to God as his father but
when they also refer to God as their
father Yeshua explains that he proceeded
forth and came from God being sent here
by God John 8:38 says I speak what I
have seen with my father and you do what
you have seen with your father and John
8: 41-42 says you do the Deeds of your
father then they said to him we were not
born of fornication we have one father
God Jesus said to them if God were your
father you would love me for I proceeded
forth and came from God nor have I come
of myself but he sent me this
conversation shows us that Yeshua saw
God as his father in a different way
than humans can regard God as their
father Yeshua understand that he came
from God but we were merely created by
God this is why he's called the only
begotten Son of God we can claim to be
sons of God by adoption but Yeshua is
the only begotten Son of God he wasn't
adopted by God he proceeded from God and
came to Earth the Virgin birth is
crucial for understanding the
Incarnation of Christ the Incarnation is
the belief that Yeshua the second person
of the Trinity also known as God the son
was made flesh by being conceived in the
womb of a woman the Virgin Mary the
doctrine of the Incarnation entails that
Yeshua is fully God and fully human this
is only possible if a virgin conceived a
child by the will of God if Mary became
pregnant by natural human means then the
child would be fully human but the child
would not be divine in any way for
Yeshua to have a divine nature the
Virgin birth is absolutely necessary
that's why Skeptics such as Richard
Dawkins tovy singer and Bert ER attack
the Virgin birth of Yeshua they know
that if the Virgin birth is not true
then Yeshua is not God incarnate but the
Bible is very clear that Yeshua is the
son of God that he is God incarnate that
he shares Glory with the father and that
he came from Heaven the Bible describes
someone who rejects the deity of Yeshua
as being an antichrist 1 John 2:18 says
little children it is the last hour and
as you have heard that the Antichrist is
coming even now many antichrists have
come by which we know that it is the
last hour in 1 John 2 22-23 says who is
a liar but he who denies that Jesus is
the Christ he is an antichrist who
denies the father and the son whoever
denies the son does not have the father
either he who acknowledges the son has
the father also an antichrist is someone
who denies that Yeshua is the Messiah or
they deny that he is the Son of God the
Bible also says that an antichrist
denies that Yeshua came in the flesh
meaning they deny the Incarnation 1 John
41-3 says beloved do not believe believe
every Spirit but test the spirits
whether they are of God because many
false prophets have gone out into the
World by this you know the spirit of God
every spirit that confesses that Jesus
Christ has come in the flesh is of God
and every spirit that does not confess
that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh
is not of God and this is the spirit of
antichrist which you have heard was
coming and is now already in the world
and 2 John ver7 says for many deceivers
of gone out into the world who do not
confess Jesus Christ as coming in the
flesh this is a deceiver and an
antichrist 2 John 9-10 says whoever
transgresses and does not abide in the
doctrine of Christ does not have God He
Who abides in the doctrine of Christ has
both the father and the son if anyone
comes to you and does not bring this
Doctrine do not receive him into your
house nor greet him we are instructed
not to be friends with some who rejects
this Doctrine because they've rejected
Christ people like Richard Dawkins tovia
singer and Bart Man are Antichrist
because they reject Yeshua they deny the
deed of Yeshua and they reject the
Incarnation of Yeshua we should have
nothing to do with such people they are
spewing lies and trying to steal your
faith don't listen to their teachings
don't read their books don't give them
any opportunity to speak evil of Yeshua
the second reason it's necessary that
Yeshua be born of a virgin is because
the sin nature of man is passed down
from the father not the mother and it
was absolutely necessary for Yeshua to
be completely without sin the Bible
explains that sin was passed down to All
Humans from Adam and if Yeshua had a
biological human father he would have
inherited the sinful nature passed down
from Adam Romans 5:12 says therefore
just as through one man sin entered the
world and death through sin and thus
death spread all men because all sinned
and Romans 5:14 says nevertheless death
reigned from Adam to Moses even over
those who had not sinned according to
the likeness of the transgression of
Adam who is a type of him who was to
come the Bible also tells us that Yeshua
was completely sinless the Virgin birth
ensured that Yeshua was born without the
corruption of sin making him the perfect
unblemished Lamb of God 1 John 3:5 says
and you know that he was manifested to
take away our sins and in him there is
no sin 1 Peter 2:22 says who committed
no sin nor was deceit found in his mouth
2 Corinthians 5:21 says for he made him
who knew no sin be sin for us that we
might become the righteousness of God in
him for him to be sinless it was
necessary that he be born of a virgin
the Virgin birth and incarnation of
Yeshua is essential to understanding how
he could be both fully God and fully man
he was conceived by the Holy Spirit
affirming his divinity and born of a
woman affirming his Humanity think about
it if Yeshua wasn't the sinless Son of
God then his death would not atone for
our sins our Salvation depends on him
being God incarnate Yeshua is more than
a great teacher or even a prophet he's
the sinless Divine Son of God and his
virgin birth is a non-negotiable
doctrine that affirms this
truth hey friends if you've been

welcome to the Q&A portion of the show
where you can ask questions about
today's topic so post your questions in
the chat and let's talk
biblical all right hey guys uh so I I
have a comment in here tonight it's not
a really listed as a
question
um but uh I just wanted to pull it up it
says funny thing is Dawkins can't prove
anything he claims but we as God-fearing
people can prove most of what we claim
which is absolutely true you know
Dawkins is an
atheist and he believes in
evolution and uh you know he he can't
prove any of it he can't prove Evolution
he can't prove the Big Bang um you know
all of the things that he claims to
believe are um just theories and in all
reality they are just just theories
there's no facts about them no no truth
about them you he claims that he only is
interested in truth um but the fact is
he's not interested in truth he's
interested in theory that can um that
don't include God is what he's
interested in
actually uh okay so let me I had another
one in here where did it
go
uh now I can't find it um there was a
comment in
here and uh it
was non no Nick
left um and I saw it earlier but now I'm
not seeing it uh anyway he said that
um he said that the the translation of
Isaiah in the subagent was not
originally in the subagent and that it
was added later um by someone at a later
time but that's that's actually not true
and I'm going to go ahead and just pull
up I did an internet search because this
question I typed in is Isaiah in the
suben and it say yes the book of Isaiah
is in the sub tuent uh the Greek Old
Testament the book of Isaiah is one of
the most debated texts in subt tuent the
reason it's one of the most debated
texts in subt tuent is because um
certain certain verses in the Greek
version of Isaiah are translated
differently than what the Hebrew says
and um the reason for that is that uh
well there's a couple of a couple
reasons actually why it there may be
some differences one is that the
translators
um maybe they felt that uh the certain
Greek word fit better the context um
other possibilities are that um when we
look at the the Hebrew mastic
text that uh is possible the Hebrew
mastic text may have been altered at
some point because um the Hebrew Mastic
text is actually a later Edition it's
newer than suban suban is actually older
than the mastic text the the Hebrew Old
Testament that we have access to and so
um many of the differences between the
seent and the Hebrew mastic text could
be that the Hebrew mastic text may have
been altered and um you know there's
there's a number of differences
variations between the two and some in
the Psalms some in Jeremiah you know
some of the prophets uh in various
places and so uh it could be that those
variations may have been changed by the
Jews after the time of Yeshua because
the mesaric text came around the uh I
think year 700 to the year 1000
somewhere in there is when uh after
yeshua's death and Resurrection about
700 years later the mastic text was uh
created or copied or written and and
it's possible and one of the theories is
that uh some of the Jewish scribes
trying to hide
Yeshua um altered some of the text in
the Hebrew in order to make it
um in in order to hide Yeshua in some of
those prophecies so that it didn't seem
as obvious that it was talking about
Yeshua and uh but the Greek suent which
predates Yeshua it was about 200 years
before Yeshua the entire old Old
Testament was translated into Greek and
so the the Greek septent is the the
entire Old Testament and it even
includes the Apocrypha which was not
considered Hebrew scripture but it was
still uh translated in the subagent so
we have the Greek versions of those
books as
well but the entire Old Testament was
translated into Greek in the subagent
and um it predates Yeshua and so when
Isaiah was translated it was 200 years
before Yeshua was born when they trans
translated virgin in Isaiah
7:14 um and
so why would they do that uh they had
obviously a reason for it they either
thought the context fit it or the
leading of the holy spirit in their
translation LED them to that conclusion
or possibly the original Hebrew did mean
virgin and that has somehow over time
been adopted or changed so that they uh
have tried to hide that meaning over
time so those are all
possibilities but the suban is the Greek
translation of the Old Testament the
book of Isaiah is one of the most ma uh
one of the major prophet prophetical
writings of the Old Testament and the
subagent version of Isaiah is debated
because of the translators use of Greek
and Theological interpretations some
scholars believe that uh the translator
used actualizing interpretation while
other others believe that the
translation is mostly literal uh the
Eastern orthodics Church uses the subt
tuent as the basis for translating the
Old Testament into other
languages uh the book of Isaiah
according to the suben is available in a
two volume Edition from Cambridge
University and the book of Isaiah
according to the spent codex alexandrias
uh is available from Logos Bible
Software the apostles Bible is a Modern
English translation of the suban okay so
that is just a quick summary of what it
says if you Google is Isaiah in the sub
tuent um and and now let's look at what
is the
subagent okay so the
subagent is the Greek version of the Old
Testament including the Apocrypha made
for greek-speaking Jews in Egypt in the
third and 2 centuries BC and adopted by
early Christian
churches the origin mid 16th century
originally denoted the translators
themselves from Latin
seenus uh subu sep to aenta meaning 70
because of the tradition that it was
produced under divine inspiration by 72
translators working independently and so
the the myth or the story is that they
had 72 translators Jewish scribes who
were independently translating the Old
Testament into Greek each of them did
their own version of the Old Testament
and then they all came together and
compared all 72 versions and miraculous
ly they were all identical now if that's
true or not I don't know that is a myth
that is a story that surrounds the
creation of the seent I don't know if
there's truth to it or not it's an
interesting
story uh but it could be it could be
just folklore but um that is that is why
it's called the seent because seent
means 70 and there were 72 translators
supposedly who all miraculously
translated the entire Old Testament EXA
exactly identical word for
word
um and
so that's just kind of a brief summary
of what the suban
is uh let's go ahead and see what other
the questions we
have uh
okay Mike says uh how did Joshua keep
Sabbath during the siege of
Jericho
um are you talking about when they
marched around
Jericho um let's go ahead and look at
that we'll go to Joshua
6 and let's go ahead and just look at it
now Joshua um sorry now Jericho was
securely shut up because of the children
of Israel no one went in and no one came
uh no one went out and no one came in
and the Lord said to Joshua see I have
given you uh Jericho into your hand its
king and the Mighty Men of Valor you
shall March around the city all you Men
of War you shall go around the city once
this you shall do for six
days and seven priests shall bear seven
trumpets of rams horns before the ark
but the seventh day you shall March
around the city seven times and the
priest shall blow the
trumpets it shall come to pass when they
make a long blast with the Ram's Horn
and when you hear the sound of the
trumpet that all the people shall Shout
with a great shout then the wall of the
city will fall down flat and the people
shall go up every man straight before
him then Joshua son of nun called the
priests and said to them take up the Ark
of the Covenant and the Seven priests
bear seven trumpets of rams horns before
the Ark of the Lord
and he said to the people proceed and
March around the city and let him who is
armed Advance before the Ark of the Lord
so it was when Joshua had spoken to the
people that seven priests bearing seven
trumpets of ram horns before the Lord
Advanced and blew the trumpets and the
and the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord
followed
them the armed men went before the
priests who blew the trumpets and the
rear guard uh came after the ark while
the priests continued blowing the
trumpets
Joshua had commanded the people saying
you shall shout uh you shall not shout
nor make any noise with your voice nor
shall a word proceed out of your mouth
until the day that I say to you shout
then you shall
shout so he had the Ark of the Lord
Circle the city going around at once
then they came into the camp and lodged
in the camp Josh Rose early in the
morning and the priest took up the Ark
of the Lord then seven priests bearing
seven trumpets Rams horns before the ark
uh of the Lord went continually and blew
the trumpets and armed men went before
them but the rear guard came after the
Ark of the Lord while the priests
continued blowing the
trumpets and the second day they marched
around the city once and returned to the
camp so they did for six days but it
came to pass on the seventh day that
they Rose early but about the dawning of
the day and marched around the city
seven times in the same manner on that
day they marched around the city seven
times and the seventh time it happened
when the priest blew the trumpets that
Joshua said to the people shout for the
Lord is giving you the
city now the city shall be doomed by the
Lord to destruction it and all who are
in it only Rahab the Harlot shall live
she and all who are with her in the
house because she hid The Messengers
that were
sent and You by all means abstain from
the accursed things lest you become
accursed when you take of the accursed
things and make it to the camp uh make
the camp of Israel accursed and trouble
it but the silver all the silver and
gold the vessels bronze and iron and
consecrated to the Lord they shall come
into the treasury of the
Lord so the people shouted when the
priest blew the trumpets and it happened
when the people heard the sound of the
trumpet and the people shouted with a
great shout that the wall fell down flat
then the people went up into the city
every man straight before him and they
took the
city then they utterly destroyed all
that was in the city both men and women
young and old ox and sheep and donkey
with the edge of the sword but Joshua
had said to the two men who had spied
out the country going uh go into the
Harless house and from there bring out
the woman and all that she has as you
swore to her and the young men who had
been spies went in and brought out Rahab
and uh so that I I think we can go and
stop at that point um
so we have
uh the marching around the city uh the
city seven times and at some point in
there we have a Sabbath and it's hard
to um hard to know which day is the
Sabbath but let's just assume that the
seventh day listed here is the Sabbath
so they March six days those are the six
regular days and then the seventh day
let's say that is the Sabbath day they
marched around the city seven times and
blew the trumpets and the wall fell down
and they went in and sieged the city is
that a violation of the Sabbath um I
think this would fall under the same
category as uh when Yeshua did things on
the Sabbath and so he healed people on
the Sabbath um he healed a blind man on
the Sabbath he healed a [ __ ] on the
Sabbath I think he healed lepers on the
Sabbath if I remember right um we also
see that he and his disciples uh walked
through a grainfield and they uh reached
out and they grabbed the the heads of
grain and they gathered some grain and
then they were eating it popping into
their mouth and eating it and so they
were eating Grain on the Sabbath which
the Pharisees said was a violation of
the
Sabbath um he spit on the ground to make
mud in order to put in the man's eye who
was blind and the Pharisees said him
spitting on the ground was a violation
of the Sabbath making mud was a
violation of the Sabbath healing someone
is a violation of the Sabbath according
to the
Pharisees but Yeshua in all those times
the response that he gave was that um he
was doing the will of his
father and in doing the will of his
father he was not breaking the Sabbath
um he also said that he is Lord of the
Sabbath and has authority over the
Sabbath but um his claim that he is
doing the will of the father uh he also
cited that the Levites work on the
Sabbath and they are not um they're not
guilty of breaking the Sabbath because
they're they're doing work the Sabbath
the Levites did lots of work on the
Sabbath but they weren't breaking the
Sabbath because they were doing the work
of God um and
so you know I I think this the same
application could be made here that they
were doing the will of God and the will
of God was for them to march around the
city seven times and blow the trumpets
and Siege the
city
um and the idea that God would give them
Victory on the Sabbath um actually makes
sense because the Sabbath is the day
that um is an enthronement of God it
shows God's authority over all things um
so we have you know six days of creation
and the seventh day God rested from his
work and we are to honor the Sabbath by
resting well but in this case they're
not resting they're marching around the
city and blowing trumpets and then going
to war and seizing the city um how is
that resting well they're not doing
regular work they're not doing the
regular jobs they're doing the work of
God they're doing the thing that God has
asked them to do and um it's the same
thing as as the Levites where they are
doing work on the Sabbath uh but they're
doing the work of the Lord and so by
doing his work it's not a violation of
the Sabbath and so that would be my
response to that um if you guys have any
better thoughts on that let me know in
the comments
okay and we have another question about
Isaiah 7:14 it says isn't Isaiah 714
preserved in the Dead Sea scroll Hebrew
yes it is absolutely um we have an
entire uh an entire book of Isaiah uh
the great Isaiah scroll is what is
referred to as it is an entire book of
Isaiah in the Dead Sea Scrolls um and it
dates to at least the 2 or 3rd
Century um we don't know exactly how old
it is or at least I don't know exactly
how hold this some someone else might
but it's at least to the 2 or third
Century BC um and it does use the word
Alma um which is what was referenced in
uh the clips earlier that Alma means a
um a young woman not necessarily a
virgin and so um the the fact that it
uses Alma is not the issue um the the
issue is when they say that Alma cannot
mean Virgin uh that's that's the problem
is it can mean virgin and um it was
translated into Greek as virgin um
meaning that the Jews who translated the
book of Isaiah into the
subagent um they intentionally chose the
word virgin and why did they do that um
they had a reason for it and I'm
assuming they had a good reason for it
and uh It lines up very well with what
Matthew says and so um I I think it was
most likely by the leading of the holy
spirit that they chose the word Virgin
uh in Greek for
Alma um but I think there was also proba
context behind that that led them to
that same conclusion that they
understood that Alma can mean virgin and
they looked at this as a mirac
miraculous sign H that this woman would
be pregnant and they thought well it's
it must mean virgin because for to be
miraculous she she needs to be a virgin
otherwise it's pretty normal a young
woman getting pregnant is not a
miraculous thing um it happens all the
time it happens almost daily probably uh
if you consider all the people in the
world I'm sure pretty much every day
somebody just found out they got
pregnant or somebody just conceived and
maybe they don't even know it yet um and
so there's every day somebody's getting
pregnant somewhere and many of them are
young women so that's not really
miraculous but a virgin getting
conceiving and having child well that is
miraculous and that's only happened one
time in history um it's never happened
before and never happened since and
that's when uh Yeshua was conceived in
the womb of the Virgin
Mary so uh but yes Isaiah 7 uh the
entire book of Isaiah is preserved in
the Dead Sea Scrolls in Hebrew and uh
714 says Alma um but uh you know again
that is that's not really
that doesn't affect the argument as I
stated earlier um I uh John I'm I'm
sorry U Matthew and Luke their arguments
are not based on Isaiah 7 U Luke doesn't
even mention Isaiah 7 and Matthew just
barely mentions it at the end just as
kind of like a confirmation saying well
you know this this happened and it's
because it's a fulfillment of what
Isaiah said um it's not based on Isaiah
they didn't invent the story in order to
fit what Isaiah said um they they told
the truth of what happened and then they
looked and they realized hey this was
actually spoken of by the prophet Isaiah
and they applied it so um you know
hopefully that helps better understand
it okay e Ephraim says if Jesus is
divine does that not make God two Gods
uh no it does not um think about it this
way we are created in the image of God
uh we are not uh we we we are a
multifaceted person right we have a body
we have a soul we have a spirit we have
a mind we have a will I mean there's all
types of fets to who we are and is my
mind me well yes and no is my body me
well yes and no is my spirit me well yes
and no
um it's all of them together that make
me Me My Mind by itself without the body
and without the spirit is is is not me
my spirit without my mind and my body is
is not me uh my body without my mind and
my spirit is not me it's all all three
of them together make me who I
am and uh we're created in the image of
God well in Genesis 1 let me let me just
let me just pull this up
in Genesis
uh we have in the beginning God created
the heavens and the Earth okay in John 1
it says in the beginning was the word
let me let me pull that
up in the beginning was the word and the
Word was with God and the Word was God
so here we have the word with God and
the word is also God okay it says he was
in the beginning with God who was in the
beginning with God the word he it's
personified and and uh given a
personality all things were made through
him who the word and without him nothing
was made that was made and it was life
and that life was the light of men and
then now let's go back to Genesis
1 okay in the beginning God created the
heavens and the Earth he did as God the
word the word who was with God the word
who was God God created all things in
the beginning
um and let's skip down and it says uh
verse two the Earth was without form of
void and darkness was on the face of
deep and the spirit of God was hovering
over the face of the waters well here we
have the Holy Spirit the spirit of God
was also present there at creation so we
have
father God we have the word the son and
we have the spirit the holy spirit all
three are present right here in the
first two verses of Genesis
then God said let there be
light so when God spoke the word the
word let there be
light everything was created and so this
this word is what created it God
speaking the word and the word created
all things the word is part of who God
is uh what comes out of God is God the
words that come from God is God the
spirit of God is God the thoughts of God
are God um and so the word came forth
from God and so the word is God because
it came from
God and God saw the light that it was
good and divided the uh God divided the
light from the darkness uh God called
light day and the Darkness he called
night so evening and morning were the
first day and we see the same pattern
follows in every single day so day day
two God said let there be a firmament in
the midst of the waters and let it
divide the waters from the waters so God
said God spoke the word came forth and
creation
happened
um then we go to verse n God said let
the waters under the heavens be gathered
together in one place and let dry ground
appear God spoke the word and so the
word
created
um 111 then God said let the Earth bring
forth grass and herbs and it yield seed
and uh fruit trees that yields fruit
according to its kind whose seed is in
itself in the earth and it was so God
said God spoke the word word and the
word created all things and so we see
this is uh what John is saying is right
there in Genesis 1 um it's not a
contradiction he's not adding he's not
adding to what the Bible says he is
explaining what the Bible
says um and then we get to let's go down
and we see the same pattern all
throughout
here and we get
to verse
26 then God said let us make man in our
image according to our likeness and let
them have dominion over the fish of the
sea the birds of the air over the cattle
and over the Earth and over every
creeping thing that creeps on the
earth what's interesting about this is
God is speaking to himself and he says
let us create man in our
image he speaking in plural he's
speaking of himself in a plural form
us
our U our image our
likeness um why is God speaking to
himself in
plural was because there's there's this
Tri this trunity between Father Son and
Holy Spirit the Father the Son and Holy
Spirit we're all three present at
creation and when God said let us make
man in our image he was speaking to the
the members of the godhead the father
Son and Holy Spirit and together the
godhead Father Son and Holy Spirit
created man and so we see in verse 27 so
God created man in his own image in the
image of God he created him male and
female he created them okay so he said
let us make man in our image but then it
says he singular created Man In His
Image singular
um many
Jewish Scholars have said well in in
verse 26 uh God was talking to the
angels and Heavenly beings and he's
telling them hey let let's let us make
man in our image the problem is in verse
27 it doesn't say that the angels and
Heavenly beings uh that that we're made
in the image of heavenly beings and
Angels we're
not it says we're made in the image of
God not in the image of heavenly beings
and angs and it doesn't say that
Heavenly beings and Angels helped God
create
man he didn't need he didn't need any
help from the angels and and other heav
Heavenly beings he did it all by
himself so God made man in his own image
not in the image of angels and Heavenly
beings in the image of God God being a
tripartate type being having three parts
uh Father Son and Holy Spirit uh we are
also tripartate type beings where we
have a body and a mind and a in a spirit
or a
soul and so we we are a tripart being
and we even see uh when God made Adam uh
what he
did and let's go to Genesis 2 to see
what that looks like
um and let's
see Genesis 2:7 and the Lord God formed
man of the Dust of the ground and
breathed into his nostrils the breath of
life and the Man became a living being
and so right here we have a body that
was formed out of the
dust and then we have the breath of life
which is also referred to as the ruach
or the spirit that is put into the man
and that he became a living soul and so
the the living being nephesh is also a
living
Soul well when um in Isaiah I mean in
uh uh
Ecclesiastes I believe it was chapter
um let's see
uh it's not the verse I was looking for
um but anyway it it talks about how when
when you die your body returns to the
the ground body returns to the Earth and
your spirit or your breath your ruach
returns to God who gave
it well that's that's the same as what
Genesis 2 says and so when when you when
God created you he formed a body Out of
the Dust and he breathed into it the
Breath of Life the ruach the
breath and you became a living Soul so
you have three parts you have Body
Spirit and soul when you die it says
that the body returns to the dirt and
that the spirit or the breath returns to
God who gave it okay that's why when uh
Yeshua was dying on the cross he said
you know receive my spirit when uh
Steven was being stoned to that he said
receive my spirit um it's it's this idea
that his his breath of life his spirit
is leaving him it's you think about um
let's just compare this with a computer
so you have a uh physical device let's
just you know let's just take an iPad
I've got an iPad setting here we have an
iPad it's got a physical device
it's it's it's a physical thing it has a
body right and so you have your device
that has a body well on that body you
have software that's the mind that's the
soul that's the uh the
the the memory the thoughts the um the
things that make it unique mine is
different than yours and so mine has
different software than yours mine has
different applications mine has
different documents things like that so
my my software on my machine is
different than yours so that makes mine
unique compared to yours um same as our
soul is unique my my soul is unique
yours we may have similar bodies um but
our soul is what makes us unique but the
thing that energizes it is the battery
and so without a battery this thing is
worthless it's just a piece of metal and
the software does it no good without the
battery well the battery is that Breath
of Life the battery is the the the
spirit is the uh the breath of life that
God breathed into Adam so Adam had a
body formed from the dust physical flesh
body but it was lifeless until God
breathed the breath of life into it and
then that gave it life gave it energy
gave it power to move and to function um
and when it had the power to move into
function it became alive and it became a
living being and that's what made it a
soul okay so we have three parts in who
we
are when we die the life the
battery um the the spirit returns to God
who gave it that breath of life that God
gave us returns to God uh it's no longer
part of us it was UN loan to us and it's
no longer part of us anymore and our
body which was once alive is now dead
well it's put in the ground and it's
buried so what what's what are we then
at that point we are a corpse we are
dead we are lifeless but Peter talks
about how God has preserved our soul
until the day of
judgment okay so how has he preserved
our soul maybe he maybe he ran a backup
you know keep keeping with the computer
uh computer software uh analogy you know
you back up one device and then you can
install it on a new device and have all
your stuff still there you have a brand
new machine but it's exactly uh has all
the exact same stuff that was on your
old machine because you backed it up you
saved it and then you transferred it to
the new machine maybe that's maybe
that's a good comparison to what God is
doing with our soul he's he he's saved
it he's preserved it he's backed it up
and so when we get the new body at the
resurrection he can just download that
Soul into that new body and there we are
we have a brand new body that's never
going to die and our soul is preserved
so that we are still who we
are but we have those three parts body
Soul and Spirit um God is three parts
also he's Father Son and Holy
Spirit um and you know you think
about Yeshua representing the body he is
the physical form that we saw it says no
one has seen God uh but the son has
revealed him the son has made him
known uh we are he is the express image
of God um and so those are those are
terms the Bible uses of him and so John
says that no one has seen the father but
the son has made him known Colossians
says he is the express image and
likeness of the father um Yeshua even
told uh his disciples he said if you've
seen me
you've seen the father because he's the
he's the representation he's the image
he's the form he's the body that we see
he's even called the body in 1
Corinthians 12 it says that um you know
that that the body of Christ is the
church and that that he is the
body and that we are part of his body um
and so the these same kinds of analogies
are being made in reference to
Yeshua um and so we think about this you
know this body
has a spirit well the spirit is the Holy
Spirit and uh the the mind is the mind
of of the father and so we have uh you
know he says I I didn't come to do my
will but only my father's will um he
said I I do only the things that the
father says to do his his mind and his
will were completely submitted to the
father
so uh when it talks about us having the
mind of Christ it's saying we would be
the same way we have the same mind in us
um that would be fully submitted to the
Father the same way he
was
um
but all that to say
um let's go back to the question if
Jesus is divine does that make does that
not make two
Gods no it does not make two
Gods it's not
like
um Zeus and Hercules you know I've heard
people try to make similar comparisons
and they say that uh Hercules was uh you
know Zeus had sex with a woman and they
had this half-human half God call him
demig Gods uh
Offspring and he was the son of Zeus and
um but he was he was a demigod he was he
was not a full God he was half
god well that's that's not what the the
Bible is presenting um the Bible says
that in Yeshua dwelt the fullness of the
godhead bodily and so he was fully God
he wasn't half God he was fully God all
of God's fullness was in
him um let's go let me let me look at
Philippians um because Philippians gives
us gives us pretty good
um let's see okay St verse 5 let this
mind be in you which was also in Christ
Jesus who being in the form of God did
not consider it robbery to be equal with
God now this this word here form of God
um this is a word that we see in um
platonic uh philosophy types of thinking
and so it's this idea that we have the
the form and then we have um the uh
the image of the form I guess is is I I
don't remember the exact term but the
the reality you know in in platonic
thought is that what we see here on
Earth is not the real world this is just
a reflection of the real world the real
world is actually the spiritual realm
and what's in the real word is being
reflected in the physical um that's the
kind of the idea of what's being
proposed here when it says that he was
in the form of God um that the he is he
is identified with God himself another
way to say it is he who being in nature
was God his his very nature his Essence
who he is his being is
God and that he did not consider it
robbery to be equal with God okay he he
um he didn't he didn't consider it to be
a um a theft from God to call him
to be called God for Yeshua to be called
God is not stealing anything from God
whereas if if a human you know if you or
I was to say I'm god well we are
stealing from God we are stealing Glory
from him that does not belong to
us we are making ourself into god um
Yeshua rightly was God and he wasn't
stealing any Glory from God by being
called God um and so that's just part of
who he
is but he made uh oops but he made
himself of no reputation taking the form
of a bonder servant so he had the form
of God when he was in heaven and then he
took the form of a servant when he came
to
Earth and he humbled
himself um coming in the likeness of men
so he made himself of no reputation
taking the form of a bond servant and
coming in the likeness of men okay so in
verse six it says he was in the form of
God and in the form of God it was not
robbery to be called equal to God
because he was
God but then he took he humbled himself
and he took the form of a man and came
in the likeness of men being human the
Incarnation God became man God took on
human flesh and became a a
person and being found in appearance as
a man he humbled himself and became
obedient to the point of death even the
death of the Cross and so he came in the
appearance of men he was not fully uh he
was was not just man he was not only man
he was not um only a man and this is the
problem that that people want to say is
that well he was just a man he wasn't
just a man he was God in the form of a
man he had the appearance of a man he
had the likeness of a man he took on the
form uh in verse S he took on the form
of a man the form and likeness of a
man and was in appearance he appeared
like a man he looked like a man but he
himself uh
was actually God he he he came from God
he was in the form of God in heaven and
he was equal with God in heaven but he
took the form and likeness of man and
was found in appearance as a
man therefore God has highly exalted him
and given him the name which is above
every
name that at the name
of Jesus every knee should bow those in
heaven those on Earth and those under
the Earth okay now this is uh this is a
quote this is a reference and let me uh
pull up another software
here because I want to show
you where this comes
from and so we
go I'm going to go to the Bible app here
and let me pull that up on the screen so
you can see it okay so we have the Bible
app here
and so we
see um
therefore God has also highly exalted
and given the name which name that at
the name of Jesus every name would bow
Isaiah
4523 let's look that up uh actually let
me just go and do it
here Isaiah 25:43 I have sworn by myself
the word has gone out of my mouth in
righteousness and shall not return that
to me every should bow and every sh
every tongue should take an oath okay
Philippians chapter 2 is quoting Isaiah
23 uh Isaiah
45:23 that every knee would bow to him
to God and every tongue would take an
oath or every tongue would would confess
is is quoting Isaiah 45:23 and this is
say this is God saying I have sworn by
myself uh that to me every knee should
bow
but uh Philippians it
says um that at the name of Jesus every
knee should bow and those in heaven and
those on Earth and those under the Earth
and every tongue should confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God
the Father they're confessing that his
is Lord um what does that mean that he
is lord they're confessing he is lord
they're confessing that he is Yahweh
that he is God almighty um this also we
see in
Romans and we're going to get into more
detail on this next week as we dive into
uh the deed of
Yeshua um but I'm sorry Romans chapter
10 verse n here U and actually let me
let me pull it up on this
other so it's easier to
read okay Romans 109 that if you confess
with your mouth the Lord Jesus and
believe in your heart God raised him
from the dead you'll be saved you
confess with your mouth that Jesus is
Lord okay and you believe that he's been
raised from the dead you'll be saved
well then it goes on it says um for the
scripture says whoever believes in him
will not be put to shame well this is um
reference to Isaiah
28:16 well what does Isaiah 28:16
say let me pull that
up uh
okay therefore thus says the Lord God
behold I lay in Zion a stone for a
foundation a tried Stone a precious
Cornerstone a sure Foundation whoever
believes will not act hastily okay so
this is uh what he's one of the things
he's referencing here and then the other
one um Jeremiah 17:7
blessed is a man who trusts in the Lord
and whose hope is in the Lord and the
word Lord there is
yway and so he says if you confess with
your mouth that Jesus is Lord and
believe in your heart that God raised
him from the dead you will be
saved and then we go down and uh
let's
see verse 11 so Romans
[Music]
10 for the scripture says whoever
believes on him will not be put to
shame uh that is that is where Isaiah
28:16 and and Jeremiah 17 s come from
whoever believes in him will will not be
put to
shame um and then we have verse
13 for whoever calls on the name of the
Lord will be saved well this is also an
Old Testament reference and it is um
Joel chapter 2 verse 32 and so if we
look at
Joel 2 and verse
32 and it shall come to pass that
whoever calls on the name of the Lord
and that word there in Hebrew is Yahweh
y whoever calls on the name of Yahweh
will be saved for Mion in Jerusalem
there shall be Deliverance as the Lord
Yahweh has said among the remnant of
those of whom the Lord Yahweh
calls okay
so
when
Romans
10 and verse 13 it says whoever call
calls on the name of the Lord shall be
saved he's quoting Joel chapter 2 where
it says whoever calls on the name of
Yahweh will be saved and he is applying
it to Yeshua and he's saying we must
believe that Yeshua is Lord right in in
verse nine confess with the mouth that
Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart
that God will raise him from the dead
you'll be saved and whoever believes on
him Yeshua will not be put to
shame and whoever calls on the name of
the Lord Yahweh Yeshua will be
saved okay so he's telling us that that
to call Yeshua Lord to call Yeshua
Yahweh is part of our Salvation we have
to understand and recognize that he is
Yahweh he is God incarnate and here's
the thing um the New
Covenant
Jeremiah
31 Jeremiah
31:31 I want I want you to think about
this
behold the days are coming says the Lord
Yahweh when I will make a New Covenant
with the house of Israel and the house
of Judah it is Yahweh who made the
Covenant with Israel and Judah and it is
Yahweh who makes the New Covenant with
Israel and Judah so when Yeshua at the
Last Supper said this is the New
Covenant in my
blood he's saying he is making the New
Covenant in his own blood he is making
claim that he is Yahweh in Jeremiah
31:31
because it is Yahweh who makes the New
Covenant Yeshua made the New Covenant in
his blood and he said that he is making
a new covenant in his
blood Yahweh is the one who made the New
Covenant and it says not according to
the Covenant which I made with their
fathers in the day when I took them by
the hand of lead them by the land of
Egypt my which they broke though I was a
husband of them says the Lord
Yahweh Yahweh took them out of Egypt at
Passover right out of Egypt and you'll
become my people takes them out of of
Egypt go to the mountain and he gives
them the Ten Commandments while Moses is
on the Mountain uh during that 40-day
period they created a golden idol u a a
golden calf and they started worshiping
it they broke the
Covenant though he was a husband to
them okay who led them out of Egypt
Yahweh who led them out of Egypt Yeshua
Yeshua is the one who led them out of
Egypt Yeshua is is the one who took them
by the hand and led them out of the land
of Egypt Yeshua is
God
and um Yeshua is Yahweh Yahweh is the
one who led them out of Egypt they are
they're he in in John
17 he said give uh restore it 17 in John
when he was praying maybe it was 14 but
when he was praying he said Lord restore
to me the glory which I had with you
before the world was he shared Glory
with the father before the creation of
the world
okay in Isaiah uh I believe it's 45 he
says I share my glory with no one there
is no other God but
me there's no God but Yahweh and Yeshua
and and God shares Glory with no one but
yet Yeshua shares Glory with the father
that shows us that he is also Yahweh
that the two are one and and and you
know you look at the shama here Israel
the Lord Our God the Lord is one shma
Israel Adonai elohenu
in Hebrew is is not singular it is a
plural Unity it's the same word that's
used in Genesis chapter 2 when Adam and
Eve become husband and wife and he says
that the The man shall leave his father
and mother be joined to his wife and the
two shall become
onead so two husband and wife become
onead well in in the sh says here Israel
the Lord Our God the Lord is one we have
two Lords mentioned the Lord Our God and
the Lord and it says he is
onead and so we we have this
aad uh this Unity this plural Unity is
being spoken of here the word Elohim is
a plural word um it's it's a plural
majesty and uh it's it's showing his his
plurality and his greatness and he's
he's far above all other gods but when
you speak of other gods you say the gods
of the other nations you say the Elohim
of the other nations but when you talk
about the God of Israel you say the
Elohim of is
is same word one means a plural
plurality of gods the the gods of the
the pagans because they have many
gods the other is a plural of
majesty and it's a singular God it's a
monotheistic religion that we have one
God Yahweh but he has a plural of
majesty and he exists as Father Son and
Holy
Spirit and so um saying that Yeshua is
God as your question said uh saying that
Yeshua is is God or he is divine does
not make two Gods um and like I said
we're going to talk more about this next
week um as we as we dive into the deed
of Yeshua and I think that's a good time
